Good morning,
MUSIC
Sharing the last of the horrible tunes that aren’t so horrible. Thank you to Diane Cairns for her additions. Honestly, these short clips are worth the watch. They’re like tiny time capsules of days gone by, filled with awful clothes, kitschy filming, bizarre images, and terrifically awful lyrics.
Brand New Key (“I got a pair of brand new pair of roller skates—you’ve got a brand new key…”). The video is classic. Melanie is a classic, with the period hair style! (the sync of video isn’t great): Brand New Key
“How Do You Do,” with Mouth & MacNeal, performing on “Hits A Gogo.” Again, the closing styles are classic. Mouth is wearing a vest that needs to be retired to the Smithsonian. Nice touch with the violin solo, as well!: Mouth & MacNeal
Here's another version of this Dutch duo. The vest theme is brought to a new high (or low…) with green feathery versions, followed by a weird feeding fest and the deification of a disturbing and inexplicable ventriloquist dummy. This video challenges taste on a variety of levels:

Alan Rosenbach suggests nearly any Styx of Foreigner tune but is particularly annoyed by Journey’s “Wheel in the Sky”:
POETRY
A Small Needful Fact, by Ross Gay
Is that Eric Garner worked
for some time for the Parks and Rec.
Horticultural Department, which means,
perhaps, that with his very large hands,
perhaps, in all likelihood,
he put gently into the earth
some plants which, most likely,
some of them, in all likelihood,
continue to grow, continue
to do what such plants do, like house
and feed small and necessary creatures,
like being pleasant to touch and smell,
like converting sunlight
into food, like making it easier
for us to breathe.
Have a great weekend,
Glenn
Have we transitioned from ‘truly awful songs’ to ‘songs or groups we just don’t like’? You as moderator should hold the line here, and disallow answers like “any Styx or Foreigner” because it dilutes the fun goal, and makes the conversation uninteresting. I like the America song because if it’s pastoral vibe, and the seemingly banal or lazy lyrics play in nicely to what can be happening to one’s head after spending a while in the desert heat and intense sun.
