#909 Musings Beyond the Bunker (Friday April 26)
Good morning,
I thought it would be fun to return to a Friday of poetry and music before the weekend…
POETRY
DUST OF SNOW
By Robert Frost
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.
MUSIC
I love cover versions of popular songs. Here are some more great covers, starting with Rich Guess’s recommendation of Keb’ Mo’s cover of “Big Yellow Taxi” (originally Joni Mitchell—won’t make that mistake again!):
Alan Rosenbach recommends Johnny Cash singing “The Hurt” (originally Nine Inch Nails):
“Baby I Love Your Way,” Will to Power (originally Peter Frampton). I heard this on Sirius while driving, pulled over and snapped a picture of the name of the group. That’s how good it is.
“Baby I Love Your Way,” Big Mountain (ditto above). Another completely different take, with a reggae flair:
“Walk This Way,” Run-DMC (originally Aerosmith, which appears in this cover)
Have a great day,
Glenn
