Good morning,
Let’s start the weekend with poetry and music…
POETRY
Epitaph On a Tyrant
By W.H. Auden
Perfection, of a kind, was what he was after,
And the poetry he invented was easy to understand;
He knew human folly like the back of his hand,
And was greatly interested in armies and fleets;
When he laughed, respectable senators burst with laughter,
And when he cried the little children died in the streets.
MUSIC
In watching the television series, Lessons in Chemistry, a beautiful tune was in the soundtrack. I had first heard it in the great Coen Brothers’ O Brother, Where Art Though, starring George Clooney and John Turturo. Turn down the light, close your eyes, and listen to this, allowing your mind to slip into the mantra of the tune “Come to the River to Pray”:
And here is “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow,” from the movie, prefaced by a bit of the movie. This great bluegrass tune commences at 1:15:
Have a great day,
Glenn
O Brother … has one of the great soundtracks of all time. Thanks for calling it out Glenn
