#802 Musings Beyond the Bunker (Thursday November 23)
Happy Thanksgiving!
What’s better than family together, a celebration of gratitude, and an abundance of food?!
While I will attempt to consume my body weight again this year (I’ll never learn), I recall all for which I’m thankful, recognizing that others do not have such things, including:
My wife and children
The upbringing by, and companionship of, my parents
Living in this great country
Having been given the heritage, culture, and values of the Jewish people
Family—cousins, grandparents, nieces, nephews, and in-laws
Safety, sustenance, and a roof over my head
Health and comfort
The ability to travel the world
The benefit of great ideas, great ideas and great lessons passed on to me by prior generations and past civilizations
Friends—some for a long time and some relatively new, but all dear
A career with mentors and colleagues, who have allowed me to be better at what I do and to enjoy what I do
The education I was fortunate enough to have been given
My teachers
The magnificence of the natural world
Music—classical, jazz, rock, pop, and quirky
Knowing, working with and supporting people who work every day to make the world better, healthier, better educated, and more equitable
Just the fact I’m alive
Hoping everyone takes a moment to count their blessings and, in some small way, will do something in the coming year to make those less fortunate have more for which to be thankful next year.
Happy Thanksgiving!
