#121 Musings Beyond the Bunker (Thursday August 19)
Good morning,
MAIL BAG
A friend sent me an article from Town Hall, the conservative news and commentary aggregator. At the end of an article about why we should ignore the L.A. County mask mandate is an “Editor’s Note” that reads:
“Join Town Hall VIP so we can keep telling you the truth about President Trump’s victories in combatting COVID-19 and prevent Biden from stealing the credit.”
The note goes on to have folks click a link and enter the promo code, “WUHAN.” Can’t make this stuff up. Notice the reference to Trump by his title and Biden simply by his last name. Note how the publication refers to “victories” (adopting the “win/lose” language of the Trump machine) and seems to believe that the Former President really did a great job with his response to COVID (notwithstanding clear factual evidence to the contrary). And the “WUHAN” code. As they say, OMG!
On another note, Jerry Coben notes that I referred to the lanes on the freeway incorrectly a few weeks ago. The “number one” lane is the fast lane and it proceeds outward from there.
MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE AND THE SECOND AMENDMENT
Congresswoman Greene was captured on video speaking to a partisan audience. She proudly proclaimed that the state in which she spoke (I believe it was Alabama) was among the “least masked and least vaccinated” in the country, which received applause. She then admonished them to watch out for the people that will be sent by the federal government to take their names and phone numbers and those of their children.
But most ominous of all was her final statement, that when federal representatives come to people’s doors they be surprised by what they find because “we Southerners are protective of our Second Amendment rights.” Here it is again, much as President Trump encouraged his followers and how those who flaunt their personal sidearms at rallies behave… The presence of guns is being used as a means to stifle debate and their use is encouraged by our elected leaders.
Have a great day,
Glenn
